Wegovy (semaglutide) injection is an effective weight loss prescription medicine. It's a once-weekly injection to help adults with obesity or overweight lose weight and keep it off. It works by suppressing appetite as well as reducing overall cravings by influencing hormones that regulate hunger and fullness.
Wegovy is suitable for for adults with obesity or overweight who have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 or higher, with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or sleep apnoea. You should not use wegovy if you're pregnant and should stop treatment at least two months before trying to get pregnant. If you become pregnant while taking wegovy, stop using it immediately and talk to your gp or midwife.
Wegovy must be kept in the fridge (with a temperature between 2°C and 8°C) before first use. Once you start using the pen, you can keep it for 6 weeks either at room temperature (below 30°C) or in a fridge (with a temperature between 2°C and 8°C). Do not freeze Wegovy.
